About hotelgives

hotelgives is a small independent editorial index of hotels. It exists because the four kinds of stay it covers — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — are each interesting for reasons that ordinary hotel listings flatten out. A carved room that melts in April and a two-metre sleeping cabin beside an airport gate have almost nothing in common, and neither is well served by a page of amenity icons.

How entries are written

Each property gets a short piece of prose describing what it is: the building, the setting, the way the rooms are meant to be used, and anything about the operation that a reader would want to know before looking further. We write in general, durable terms and avoid anything that would need a citation or would be out of date within a season — no prices, no room counts quoted to the unit, no claims about current offers.

What we do not do

There are no star ratings here, no aggregated scores, no guest reviews and no ranking of one property above another. We do not take reservations, hold inventory, or pass enquiries to hotels. Nothing on the site is sponsored placement, and the order of entries within a category carries no judgement.

Coverage

The index is deliberately narrow and geographically unbounded. A category is included when it describes a genuine kind of building rather than a marketing label, and a property is included when there is something specific to say about it. The list grows slowly, and entries are revised when a property changes in a way that makes the description wrong.
